One of the most difficult things I find in the management of my music school in London is to make my students’ parents understand how important it is to support children in their musical development without rushing, respecting their natural learning time.

Purtroppo le devo dire che oggi musica non c’é e i suoi occhi si riempiono di lacrime. Non apre bocca (non l’aveva fatto nemmeno la settimana scorsa, anche se aveva partecipato a tutte le mie proposte di gioco musicale) e continua a fissarmi con i suoi occhioni blu.
So, in a couple of seconds, I took the decision to continue without language, hoping that that idea would have work. Instead of trying to explain to them why they should have tried to calm down, I chose to use my most powerful “tool” to engage them: music!
Parents are fundamental during children development so it’s really important to have them on board during the sessions, enjoying the music activities as much as their children. They are their children’s reference so everything they do is an example for their children.
